Individual Cuts + Price-Per-Pound Orders

Most individual beef cuts are sold by weight. The price shown on the website reflects the price per pound, not necessarily the final price of the exact package you receive.

Because each package varies naturally in weight, placing an online order reserves the requested cut(s), but you will not be charged the final product total at checkout unless otherwise stated. Grass Rivers Farm will confirm the actual packaged weight, calculate the final total using the listed price per pound, and contact you with payment and pickup details.

Final package weights may vary from any averages, estimates, or example weights shown online.

Product Availability

All products are subject to availability. Beef is seasonal, quantities are limited, and inventory can change quickly.

Submitting an order or reservation does not guarantee availability until Grass Rivers Farm confirms the order. If a requested product is unavailable, we may contact you to offer a substitute, alternative cut, different quantity, or refund where applicable.

Product photos are representative. Exact size, shape, marbling, package weight, cut appearance, and quantity may vary.

Beef Shares

Quarter, half, and whole beef shares are reserved with a deposit.

Approximate share weights, freezer-space estimates, estimated totals, cut examples, and harvest timing shown on the website are provided as planning guides only. Actual weights and final costs vary by animal, hanging weight, processing selections, packaging choices, and butcher fees.

Grass Rivers Farm beef shares are priced based on hanging weight, not final packaged take-home weight. Hanging weight refers to the weight of the animal after harvest and before final cutting, trimming, and packaging.

Final packaged weight will be lower than hanging weight due to normal processing, trimming, bone removal where applicable, moisture loss, and customer cut selections.

Beef Share Deposits

A deposit reserves your place for an upcoming harvest and is applied toward the cost of your beef share.

Because harvest planning and animal allocation are based on reservations, deposits may be nonrefundable once a share has been assigned or processing preparations have begun. If Grass Rivers Farm is unable to fulfill your reserved share, any applicable deposit will be refunded.

Any changes, cancellations, or transfer requests should be made as early as possible and are subject to approval based on harvest timing and availability.

Processing + Butcher Fees

Processing and butcher costs are separate from the cost of the beef unless specifically stated otherwise.

Final processing charges vary based on cut selections, packaging, hanging weight, and butcher pricing. Grass Rivers Farm may collect or coordinate final payment for these charges as part of your order, depending on the processing arrangement.

Vacuum sealing is available at an additional $0.20 per pound where applicable. Paper wrapping may also be available depending on processing options.

Cut + Packaging Preferences

Half and whole beef shares allow greater customization than quarter shares.

Custom cut preferences are subject to processor availability, practical limitations, animal size, and processing deadlines. While we do our best to accommodate requests, specific cuts, package sizes, steak thicknesses, bone-in or boneless preferences, and other selections cannot always be guaranteed.

If cut instructions are not received by the required deadline, standard processing selections may be used.

Estimated Totals

Any estimated total price shown for a beef share is an estimate only.

Final cost may change based on actual hanging weight, processing fees, packaging choices, and other applicable charges. Customers are responsible for the final confirmed total associated with their order.

Pickup

Grass Rivers Farm currently offers farm pickup in Siletz, Oregon, unless another arrangement has been confirmed directly with us.

Pickup instructions, timing, and location details will be provided after your order is confirmed and ready.

Customers are responsible for picking up orders during the agreed pickup window. If you cannot make your scheduled pickup, please contact us as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements.

Orders requiring refrigeration or freezing cannot be left unattended for extended periods. Grass Rivers Farm is not responsible for product quality or safety after an order has been picked up or after an agreed pickup window has passed without communication.

Cold Storage + Safe Handling

All beef must be kept properly refrigerated or frozen after pickup.

Customers are responsible for safe transport, storage, thawing, preparation, and cooking after the product leaves Grass Rivers Farm’s possession.

Raw meat should be handled according to standard food-safety practices, including keeping raw meat separate from ready-to-eat foods, washing hands and surfaces after handling, and cooking beef to an appropriate internal temperature.

Grass Rivers Farm is not responsible for spoilage, contamination, or food-safety issues resulting from improper transport, storage, thawing, handling, or preparation after pickup.

Returns + Refunds

Because we sell perishable food products, we generally cannot accept returns once beef has been picked up.

If you believe you received the wrong item, an incorrect quantity, damaged packaging, or a product-quality issue, please contact Grass Rivers Farm promptly so we can review the situation.

Refunds, replacements, or credits are handled on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.

Order Changes + Cancellations

If you need to change or cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible.

Changes are subject to availability and may not be possible after products have been pulled, weighed, processed, packaged, or reserved for pickup.

Beef-share cancellation terms may differ from individual-cut orders because animals and processing are planned in advance.

Special Requests

Special requests for particular cuts, quantities, package sizes, or larger orders are welcome, but availability is not guaranteed.

Restaurants, markets, and other local businesses seeking wholesale or recurring quantities should contact Grass Rivers Farm directly to discuss availability, timing, and pricing.

Central Coast Food Web Orders

Orders placed through Central Coast Food Web are subject to that marketplace’s ordering, payment, pickup, and refund policies in addition to any applicable Grass Rivers Farm product terms.

Questions about orders placed through CCFW should be directed to the appropriate marketplace contact or Grass Rivers Farm as applicable.

Website Information

We make every effort to keep prices, inventory, descriptions, estimated weights, harvest information, and product details current and accurate. However, errors, outdated information, or inventory discrepancies may occasionally occur.

Grass Rivers Farm reserves the right to correct pricing or product information, cancel orders affected by an error, limit quantities, or update these policies as needed.

Payment

Payment methods may vary by order type.

Individual-cut orders may be invoiced after exact package weights are confirmed. Beef-share deposits may be collected online at the time of reservation, with remaining balances due later.

Payment is due according to the instructions provided with your order. Orders may be held until payment is completed.

Payment-card information submitted online is processed by the applicable third-party payment processor and is subject to that provider’s terms and privacy practices.

Privacy

Customer information is used to process orders, coordinate pickup, communicate about purchases, and provide farm updates where customers have chosen to subscribe.

Grass Rivers Farm does not sell customer contact information.

Agreement to These Policies

By placing an order, reserving a beef share, submitting payment, or accepting pickup of a Grass Rivers Farm product, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and agree to the applicable store policies above.

I’d use this almost exactly as-is, but there are three things I’d have Lorissa explicitly confirm before launch because they’re business decisions rather than wording decisions:

1. Whether beef-share deposits are truly nonrefundable, and if so, at what point.

2. How long she wants to hold a missed pickup order before she can release/resell it.

3. Whether she wants any formal deadline for cut-sheet changes before processing.

For actual liability protection, this is a strong operational policy page, but I would still have an Oregon attorney review the final version if she wants it to function as formal legal terms rather than customer-facing store policies.
